2026 BAM GOLF OUTING August 14th 2026
At BAM Training Center, our programs are designed to meet wrestlers where they are—and push them to the next level. Whether your athlete is stepping on the mat for the first time or preparing for elite competition, our structured system builds skill, confidence, and toughness.
During the season, BAM Training Center focuses on folkstyle wrestling with athletes grouped by age and experience—Owls (beginners), Hawks (intermediate), Eagles (advanced), Bald Eagles (high school), and Falcons (girls). See below for individual program descriptions. Practices emphasize mastering core fundamentals, building match awareness, and developing complete wrestlers through structured progression. Hawks and Eagles are expected to demonstrate proficiency across a wide range of techniques—including takedowns, setups, defense, bottom work, and top control—while also maintaining consistency, strong effort, and positive athlete conduct. Live wrestling, situational drilling, and competition preparation are key components of in-season training.
In the offseason, BAM shifts to a style-based approach, offering dedicated classes in freestyle, Greco-Roman, and continued folkstyle development. This allows wrestlers to expand their skill sets, improve creativity, and gain experience in different scoring systems and positions. Additional opportunities include girls-only classes and “Battle Thursday” live wrestling sessions, where athletes get high-rep, competitive mat time. The offseason is all about growth, experimentation, and building an edge heading into the next season.
Every class at BAM is built around progression, accountability, and growth. Our athletes don’t just learn moves—they master them through repetition, live situations, and coaching feedback.

Our entry-level group is all about building a strong foundation in a fun, structured, and encouraging environment. Owls are introduced to the fundamentals of wrestling while developing coordination, balance, and confidence on the mat.
Core Focus Areas:
Stance & Motion: Learning proper positioning, movement, and body control
Basic Offense: Introduction to simple takedowns and finishes
Defense: Understanding sprawls, stopping shots, and staying in good position
Top & Bottom Basics: Learning how to start, control, and escape from common positions
Body Awareness: Balance, agility, coordination, and mat movement
At this level, repetition and positive reinforcement are key. Athletes are encouraged to try new things, make mistakes, and grow in a supportive environment. The goal is not just skill development, but also helping young wrestlers build a love for the sport.
Owls who demonstrate effort, focus, and a grasp of the fundamentals will be prepared to transition into the Hawks program.
Hawks build directly off the Owl foundation and begin expanding into more advanced techniques, combinations, and match awareness. This group is where wrestlers start to connect movements together and understand why techniques work—not just how to perform them.
Key Skill Progressions:
Takedowns: Double leg, single leg, high crotch, low ankle, and basic finishes
Setups & Hand Fighting: Wrist picks, elbow passes, collar ties, underhooks, and inside control
Defense: Sprawls, front headlocks, down blocks, and early-stage leg defense concepts
Transitions & Re-Attacks: Arm drags, go-behinds, switches, and chaining attacks together
Bottom Skills: Stand-ups, knee slides, sit-outs, Granbys, and building a strong base
Top Wrestling: Breakdowns, tight waist control, turns (cradle, half, tilts), and mat returns
At the Hawks level, athletes are expected to begin wrestling with intention—learning to react, counter, and control positions during live situations. Emphasis is placed on effort, mat awareness, and developing the confidence to initiate offense.
Hawks must show consistent improvement and proficiency across these techniques before advancing to the Eagles group
Our top-tier group, designed for experienced wrestlers ready to compete at a high level. Eagles are expected to demonstrate mastery across a full spectrum of techniques and situational wrestling.
Core Skill Expectations (44 Total Skills):
Positions & Movement: Strong stance, motion, fakes, and effective sprawls
Setups & Ties: Arm drags, elbow passes, wrist control, underhooks, and inside control
Offense: High crotch, single leg, double leg, low ankle attacks
Defense: Head position, down blocks, front headlock control, leg defense
Bottom Wrestling: Stand-ups, switches, knee slides, sit-outs, Petersons, Granbys
Top Control & Turns: Tight waist, chops, spiral rides, far knee/ankle, cradles, tilts
Mat Returns: Lifts, back pressure, and controlled returns
Eagles must demonstrate consistency, execution, and high-level athlete conduct to maintain their status.
